The Torah Portions follow the annual cycle. However, this year, I am teaching the history of ancient Israel in place of the Torah teaching. We read the Torah Portion at the beginning of the meeting and follow this with the teaching and a midrash.
We, who are the restored Israelites through Yeshua’s body and blood, His death and resurrection, need a sense of national identity. Our patriotism should not be from whatever nation we live in or where we were born. It should be directed to Yeshua’s Kingdom where we are current citizens and where we are going. Aren’t we blessed to be citizens of the Most High God, the God and King of Israel?
Identifying with Biblical Israel is a major component of coming out of Babylon. It is also how we learn from our past so that we will not be doomed to repeating the sins of ancient Israel which got them exiled from YHVH’s Kingdom.
