Pinchas 2023: We’re Israel: Who Do We Serve?

Balaam has blessed Israel and is now gone from the scene but not before advising Balak on how to curse Israel. Balaam could not speak a curse OVER Israel so he spoke a curse FOR Israel TO Balak.

What was Balaam’s blessing and what was his curse?

His blessing was this: That God would become human in the future.

Num 24:17  I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and break down all the sons of tumult. 

First let me address that Balaam’s blessing of Israel included a curse for Moab. This was exactly what Balak was trying to avoid. He did not want war with Israel. He had seen what happens when a nation goes to war with Israel, first at the Red Sea where Pharaoh’s army was completely destroyed followed by Kings Sihon and Og. But destruction is what they’re going to get. YHVH will now strike the corners of Moab and the destroy Moab’s violent descendants. But why? And how!

Deu 23:3  An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of Jehovah. Even to their tenth generation they shall not enter into the congregation of Jehovah forever,
Deu 23:4  because they did not meet you with bread and with water in the way when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor, of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

Neh_13:2  because they did not meet the sons of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them so that he should curse them. But our God turned the curse into a blessing.

Neither the Ammonites or the Moabites were asked for food and water by Israel during their travels. This offering was expected of them because they are Abraham’s descendants. Sihon and Og were Nephilim, but Ammon and Moab were descendants of Abraham and, thus, brothers of Israel. Instead of the Ammonites coming to their rescue, they did nothing, and the Moabites sought to destroy them.

Balak did not want to have war. He knew he would be defeated so he sought another way to defeat Israel. In the process of Israel’s blessing came a curse for Moab.

Israel’s golden calf sin was enough that YHVH wanted to destroy His new wife. She has now gone further into sin this time by committing adultery – joining herself to – Baal Peor. Israel now is not only married to YHVH, she is now committing adultery with Baal Peor.

Now that I have addressed the curse of Moab, let me talk about the blessing which YHVH revealed to Balaam.

Num 24:17  I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and break down all the sons of tumult. 

The star that will come from Jacob with the scepter of Israel in His hand is what will strike Moab. Israel’s blessing is that a physical descendant of Jacob will be a star, a God (that is what the star symbols represents to this day (think Hollywood and other celebrities that are said to be “stars”)). Through the scepter of Israel, this God will completely destroy Moab. How is that? They will come to salvation, entering the Kingdom and will no longer be Moabites.

You see, when we accept the salvation of the King of Israel, we no longer are citizens of any other culture. Yes, we today still say we are Americans, South Africans, British, Germans, etc., but that is only for the convenience of explaining our physical birth country. If you are hearing this message and have sworn loyalty to Israel’s King, Yeshua, you are no longer a citizen of any earthly nation. You are a citizen of Biblical Israel. It is this method that Yeshua will use to completely obliterate Moab!

Who is this God today? Who is this King that holds the scepter. He is the one whose star over Bethlehem 1500 years later, would be attributed to Israel’s Messiah. This is one of the many reasons we know the Jews were expecting their Messiah to be God Himself. The wise men had attributed the star to Yeshua. A star represents a God. Therefore, Yeshua IS God!

This is not the first time YHVH told us He, our God, would come to die for us. Only about 200 – 215 years earlier, God had revealed His plan to Abraham in Genesis 15. Now, God is revealing His plan to Balaam.

People argue that Yeshua is not God who came in the flesh. Yet here we have two prophecies of exactly that: God Himself would come to be both God and King. Naysayers use Numbers 23:19, which is part of the blessing, to say that God cannot be a man, therefore Yeshua is not God.

Num 23:19  God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good? 

Not yet, but after prophesying that God is not a man, Balaam prophesies that in the future God WILL BECOME a man. He saw our God and King in a vision at the top of Mt. Pisgah. Balak took Balaam to Beth Peor after Pisgah where Balaam then prophesied about God and King coming out of Jacob.

It is BECAUSE God is not a man, AND because He prophesied and fulfilled His promise in Yeshua, that we can be confident that serving Yeshua means we are serving YHVH Elohim!

I have taught this before but here it is again. Yeshua called Himself God! His reference to Himself in this light is obscured because of bad English translating.

Joh 13:13  You call me, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord.’ You say so correctly, for so I am. 

Yeshua/Jesus called Himself the teacher or master (didaskolos G1320) of the Disciples AND their God (Kurios G2962). How do I know? Look at the Greek and then take those words back to the Hebrew. Kurios means El, Eloah, Elohim, YHVH, El Shaddai, Adon, Adonai, etc. It also goes back to the Hebrew word ‘baal’ which David refers to as husband. Gevir means the head of the family. Mare means master. Yeshua is our tsur, our rock. He is shallit, mighty, and shelat, dominates and rules over us. In every way that kurios can be translated, it goes to Yeshua/Jesus saying with His own mouth, “I AM GOD” and He even was calling Himself YHVH.

10,254 times in our own Bibles, the Greek word ‘kurios’ translates into Hebrew for one of the many words which are used only for YHVH Elohim. 183 times the Greek word ‘kurios’ translates into Hebrew for one of the many words which are used for both YHVH Elohim and man.

Here is another hint. I learned this many years ago but Rick recently reminded me of it. Yeshua’s deity is in His name! YHVH – Hand Behold Nail Behold, in Hebrew. Behold the hand, behold the nail, in English.

Yeshua IS YHVH! He IS the One who introduced Himself to Moses in the burning bush and he is our Lawgiver (Isaiah 33:22, James 4:12), the one who gave His Kingdom’s Law His people at Mount Sinai.

Yeshua is our God-in-the-flesh and Biblical Israel’s King which is the fulfillment of Balaam’s blessing! Let no one tell you otherwise! He did come in the flesh; He was God over Israel and their husband when they were fornicating and committing adultery with Baal Peor; He is God now; and He IS our King from the time He married Israel all the way to now and moving forward into eternity!

What was Balaam’s curse?

Rev 2:14  But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the teachings of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit fornication.  

The curse of Balaam and his gift to Balak was a stumbling block. What was the stumbling block?

Num 25:1  And Israel lived in Shittim, and the people began to fornicate with the daughters of Moab.
Num 25:2  And they [the Moabites] called the people to the sacrifices of their gods. And the people ate and bowed down to their gods.
Num 25:3  And Israel joined himself to Baal-peor. And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel.
Num 25:4  And Jehovah said to Moses, Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before Jehovah against the sun, so that the fierce anger of Jehovah may be turned away from Israel.
Num 25:5  And Moses said to the judges of Israel, Every one of you kill his men who were joined to Baal-peor.
Num 25:6  And behold! One of the sons of Israel came and brought to his brothers a woman of Midian, before the eyes of Moses, and before all the congregation of the sons of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Num 25:7  And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a spear in his hand.
Num 25:8  And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and pierced both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman, through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the sons of Israel.
Num 25:9  And those that died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

Why do demon deities, parading as gods on this earth, use fornication (ritual sex and illicit sex) as part of their worship? Why was this kind of sex often REQUIRED in these cultures? Why is illicit sex and pornography (the modern English word for fornication, the Greek base word being “porneo) so important to the demons? An obvious reason is because as long as people are thinking about sex constantly they are not meditating on YHVH’s Law day and night (Psalm 1:2). But the reason is deeper than that. It is for the procreation, the new babies that come from it.

Procreation is an issue among the demons and also for YHVH for the simple fact that our children belong to the god we worship!

This is a concept that few understand today though many complain about their children belonging to the “State” through birth certificates and social security numbers. Well, guess what? Yes, the State has devised a manner for you to understand that your children are not yours! Your children belong to them which is why they are now reaching into families to govern their education and take authority away from parents in other ways. The gods always thought our children belong to them! And that is because all of our children DO belong to the demons until such time as they choose to belong to Yeshua YHVH! But if we ourselves are worshipers of YHVH when we give birth to our children, the State has no legal claim over them even though they make the claim.

The nations of the earth are now attacking YHVH’s parents by stealing them away from the parents. This is just another of the many crimes why the Western Ephraimite nations are going to be so hideously destroyed and why they deserve it!

There was a problem in Israel back then which is still a problem today but it won’t be a problem much longer. People who claim to know YHVH but who still worship the “stars” along with the sun and moon are committing adultery with other gods.

YHVH said don’t make images in Exodus 20:4-6 and Deuteronomy 4:15-18 –

Deu 4:19  and lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, lest you should be driven to worship them and serve them, which Jehovah your God has allotted to all nations under all the heavens.

Baal Peor is idolatry and idols are made from images. Today’s “stars” have more images than at any other time in history. This problem is what YHVH warned Israel against, and had Israel heeded the warning, this earth would not be filled with the images of gods whose sex lives are paramount and YHVH’s people would not be bound to the sun, moon and stars – Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

The problem for Israel, then and now, is YHVH said HE is the ONLY God for Israel and that He is a jealous God who will not allow HIS people to get away with serving other gods! THIS was what the people could not wrap their minds around except for a remnant which Pinchas was part of.

The word “serve” is not used in churches and synagogues today in reference to YHVH. Rather, the word “worship” is inserted and then, on top of that, the word “worship” is redefined to mean going to church or synagogue and praying. These are “abad”, Strong’s H5647. And service to the gods comes in every form and fashion starting with bowing, Strong’s H7812, “shachah”.

The Hebrew word “abad” means to “work for”. ‘Abad’ is translated as “till” and “dress”. Till the ground, dress the garden. These are “work for” words. While Adam “dressed” the garden, he worked for YHVH. When it became that he must till the ground, now he is working for himself and the other gods whom the serpent will cause to come forward on earth in his name.

Every person on earth works for a god. Which god do you work for when you are going about your daily business? A god of this world or the God of all creation who is also THE God of Israel?

In this week’s Torah Portion, there was one man in all Israel who knew who YHVH was, Pinchas. He rose up to stop the third attempt of Satan to defile the Tabernacle by turning it into just another place to worship the gods which he had made to come forth in adversity to YHVH. The first attempt was through Satan’s 2 sons, who also belonged to Aaron, whose names were Nadav and Abihu. The second set of sons of Satan were Korah and his 250 princes. And now comes another son of Satan, Zimri. And with him comes Cosbi, a daughter of Satan through Baal Peor.

What are we believers in YHVH supposed to do when we see our own people acting wickedly? In this week’s Torah Portion, we are supposed to take action. Pinchas could kill Zimri and Cosbi, and he did. That is because he had the authority vested in the line of Aaron from Numbers 18. We neither have that authority in Biblical Israel without a trial nor do we have it in exile.

What we have within our power, and what we can do is disassociate ourselves from the gods of this world by giving our heart to YHVH and not them, and disassociate from their images and practices which solidify them in your heart. But what we can do is be very careful in our walk with YHVH remembering always who we serve.

A heart not dedicated to YHVH will have a hard time staying away from the things that constitute the service and worship of another god. Most of the people who claim to know YHVH will end up serving the beast’s image and the antichrist behind the beast’s image. Remember, an image always hides the power behind it. Don’t engage with the gods of the people or you will be killed like Zimri and Cosbi in the coming Tribulation.

Remember who you serve and you will join Pinchas in the Covenant of Peace and will escape the Tribulation described in the war with Midian.

Oddly, it wasn’t a daughter of Moab that caused the war that came next. It was a daughter of Midian. Midian was a son of Abraham, another branch of the family, who served other gods along with the God of Abraham, YHVH. Jethro was a priest of Midian who did not come with Israel once he had delivered Moses’ family to him, remember? This other branch, with its other gods, is the most dangerous and is the place where YHVH’s Tribulation will start. They call themselves by YHVH’s name and Baal Peor’s name and Ashteroth’s name and many names of other gods.

In this week’s Torah Portion, YHVH musters His troops to go after Midian and all those who are with Midian, including Balaam himself. In the Tribulation, YHVH will muster His troops again. We call them the 144,000. We will know “it’s on” when they arrive.

With them will be some of the children of people who defy God, children like those of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.

Num 26:9  And the sons of Eliab, Nemuel, and Dathan and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram who were famous in the congregation, who fought against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they fought against Jehovah.
Num 26:10  And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men. And they became a sign.
Num 26:11  However the sons of Korah did not die.

The sons of Dathan, Abiram and Korah served in the war with Midian. Many sons of defiant parents will serve in the 144,000.

Israel: Remember who bought you with His own blood because of your sins. Remember who you serve.
