KINDS OF SEPARATION IN THIS TORAH PORTION AND IN SCRIPTURE.

We separate others from us, according to the requirements of scripture.

We separate ourselves, individually.

YHVH does the separating.

Those that separate from us.

YHVH Separates Himself From Us

WE ARE REQUIRED TO SEPARATE OTHERS FROM US

Numbers 5:1-4. (Last week). Lepers, unclean by genital discharges and corpse impurity.

Purpose: To keep the camp clean and the Tabernacle/Temple undefiled.

Leviticus 15:31 Thus you shall separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness, so they will not die in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.

This does not devalue the unclean. It simply removes them from the rest of the congregation until they are clean again.

Remember we are YHVH’s living Temple so we have a duty to remove the unclean from the Body.

Deuteronomy 13:5. The false prophet who prophesies but leads you away from the Law of Moses. Today, these are people who predict the future but also teach against the Law of Moses.

This is why we should not listen to prophets unless they also teach the Torah.

We can’t put these on trial for capital punishment because we are in exile. This is one of commandments we cannot keep until Yeshua returns.

Deuteronomy 17:2-7. This is the man or woman who worships the sun, the moon or the stars. These must also be killed. However, today, the 3 so-called Abrahamic religions are worshiping these. This is why Yeshua must return to destroy these religions and free those of His sheep who are trapped in them.

Deuteronomy 19:15-21. A false witness is to be killed according to the punishment of the person he falsely testified against.

Deuteronomy 22:13-21. This is the newly married man who accuses his bride of not being a virgin. Her tokens of virginity are brought forward. If she is found to not be a virgin, she is to be killed. If she if found to be a virgin, and the husband has falsely accused her, she remains his wife without possibility of the husband divorcing her.

Deuteronomy 24:7. This is dealing with the slave trade. Today, the slave trade is global and is run from the highest echelons of the world’s governments. The thief who steals people for slave trading must die. This is one among many reasons YHVH has to come punish the earth. All people are subject to YHVH’s Torah whether they like it or not.

Romans 2:12  For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

Hebrews 10:28  A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.

The Father and the Son are the world’s judges, and they judge each heart. Every person has two witnesses either for or against them. No one escapes the judgement of the Father and the Son.

Sinners also have human witnesses so there are enough witnesses to enforce YHVH’s decrees of death for those who now believe they are getting away with such sins.

We cannot enforce YHVH’s Torah for capital punishment. Paul understood this when he judged the man for having sex with his mother or stepmother (1 Corinthians 5:1). YHVH’s Law outside of Israel, in Corinth, could not be enforced for capital punishment. In fact, the Sanhedrin had lost its capital punishment authority in 30AD, so even inside Judea there was no enforcement of punishments for sin.

Paul called for putting this man outside the congregation and given over to Satan until he repented.

This is a principle for us. We do as much as we can to obey Torah.

Separate The Clean From The Unclean

Lev 20:25  “‘You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean: and you shall not make yourselves abominable by animal, or by bird, or by anything with which the ground teems, which I have separated from you as unclean for you.
Lev 20:26  You shall be holy to me; for I, Yahweh, am holy, and have set you apart from the peoples, that you should be mine.

Separation has to do with our diet. YHVH has decreed which animals are for food and which are not. His diet for His royal family further separates us from all the other peoples of the earth.

Separating The Covenant Keepers From The Non-Covenant Keepers

Num 9:9-13 addresses those who refuse to keep Passover.

Verse 9:  Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
Num 9:10  “Say to the children of Israel, ‘If any man of you or of your generations is unclean by reason of a dead body, or is on a journey far away, he shall still keep the Passover to Yahweh.
Num 9:11  In the second month, on the fourteenth day at evening they shall keep it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Num 9:12  They shall leave none of it until the morning, nor break a bone of it. According to all the statute of the Passover they shall keep it.
Num 9:13  But the man who is clean, and is not on a journey, and fails to keep the Passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people. Because he didn’t offer the offering of Yahweh in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.

These are examples of separating people out of Israel. Those who are separated for issues of uncleanness do not lose their covenant status. Those who willfully sin, those who decide to satisfy the lusts of their flesh over satisfying the requirement of the Law of YHVH, are to be put to death, cut off from Israel.

SEPARATING FROM US THOSE WHO YHVH HAS CHOSEN.

Num 8:14  Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

We separate others away from us as an offering to YHVH.

Example in modern times: When we anoint someone who is among us for a specific purpose.

This is an elevation for purposes of respect and authority. It is not a separation for the purpose of increased value. All Israelites have the same value but some have offices given to them by YHVH for the purpose of administering His Kingdom. These must have authority in the area of their offices but that is where their authority ends. It does not extend into all areas of life in Israel.

Us giving these people to YHVH is our agreement with Him that they occupy offices of authority in the Kingdom. Thus, Israel agreed that the Levites instead of the firstborns would occupy the offices given to Gershon, Merari and Kohath.

YHVH PROVIDES A WAY FOR US TO SEPARATE OURSELVES TO HIM

Numbers 6:1-21 – Nazarite vow.

Numbers 30 – a way for women to separate themselves to YHVH.

1 Kings 17:1-7 – Elijah being separated by YHVH for a specific purpose – hiding him from Ahab and Jezebel – even though he was not a Nazarite. This is a prophecy of YHVH hiding His people from the wicked in the end of days but also shows us that YHVH sometimes separates people to Himself without them being Nazarites.

The prophets are examples of who YHVH selected for His service but they had not taken vows or oaths of any kind. These prophets were called into YHVH’s service and separated from the rest of Israel in order to do that work.

YHVH SEPARATES HIS PEOPLE

Deuteronomy 32:8 When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the children of men, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the children of Israel.

One method of separation is in Numbers 6:22-27 (Aaronic blessing).

YHVH separates His people from the world by blessing them with His name.

Not individually, but corporately.

No individual has YHVH’s name.

YHVH used His High Priest from the line of Aaron to put His name on His congregation. Yeshua now puts YHVH’s name on His Father’s congregation.

YHVH’s name on His people makes them His living Temple. It was that way from the beginning.

Where do you think Paul got this understanding? There is nothing new in the NT.

YHVH SEPARATES HIMSELF FROM US

Exodus 26:33  You shall hang up the veil under the clasps, and shall bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil: and the veil shall separate the holy place from the most holy for you.

The levels of separation are about the degrees of holiness, the degrees of kedushah.

Again, it is not about monetary or social value but of function, authority and respect to those who are of higher degrees of holiness.

THOSE THAT SEPARATE THEMSELVES FROM US

Numbers 10:29-36.

Num 10:29  Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place of which Yahweh said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for Yahweh has spoken good concerning Israel.”
Num 10:30  He said to him, “I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives.”
Num 10:31  He said, “Don’t leave us, please; because you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.
Num 10:32  It shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good Yahweh does to us, we will do the same to you.”

Lot separated himself from Abram in Genesis 13.

Abram did not try to keep Lot with him yet Abram still came to Lot’s rescue after he left.

Interestingly, this may have been part of Abram’s testing so he could be further separated by YHVH for YHVH’s Kingdom.

This ties into what Yeshua said in Matthew 25. More later.

Another example of people leaving us behind:

John 6:66  At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Interesting 666.

Yeshua had explained about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. All the men who were following Him left except 12.

What did Yeshua do when they left? Nothing. He simply the those who stayed if they also wanted to leave.

POINT: If people want to go – let them go. If they want to stay – let them stay as long as they are obeying the Torah.

But come to their rescue if they need it.

THE PURPOSE AND VALUE OF SEPARATION

Rom 12:4  For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function,
Rom 12:5  so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
Rom 12:6  Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let’s prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;
Rom 12:7  or service, let’s give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching;
Rom 12:8  or he who exhorts, to his exhorting; he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

1Co 12:12  For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
1Co 12:13  For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all given to drink into one Spirit.
1Co 12:14  For the body is not one member, but many.
1Co 12:15  If the foot would say, “Because I’m not the hand, I’m not part of the body,” it is not therefore not part of the body.
1Co 12:16  If the ear would say, “Because I’m not the eye, I’m not part of the body,” it’s not therefore not part of the body.
1Co 12:17  If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the smelling be?
1Co 12:18  But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body, just as he desired.
1Co 12:19  If they were all one member, where would the body be?
1Co 12:20  But now they are many members, but one body.
1Co 12:21  The eye can’t tell the hand, “I have no need for you,” or again the head to the feet, “I have no need for you.”
1Co 12:22  No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.
1Co 12:23  Those parts of the body which we think to be less honorable, on those we bestow more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have more abundant propriety;
1Co 12:24  whereas our presentable parts have no such need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the inferior part,
1Co 12:25  that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.
1Co 12:26  When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
1Co 12:27  Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.
1Co 12:28  God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracle workers, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various kinds of languages.
1Co 12:29  Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all miracle workers?
1Co 12:30  Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with various languages? Do all interpret?
1Co 12:31  But earnestly desire the best gifts. Moreover, I show a most excellent way to you.

Separation is about function within the “body”, within the Kingdom. It is not about value. Our values are set by the redemption price of Yeshua’s blood. We all have the same value but we cannot all do the same job. Not everyone can be a Levite nor will everyone feel called to be a Nazarite. Those who are unclean and are required to be separated to keep the camp clean still have the same value. But while they are outside the camp, they cannot serve in their function until they are clean.

Thus, the camp stays clean and all the people function in the way they are called and separated.

Example: Military service. It is one military service but it is divided into specialties: War on the ground, war in the water and war in the air. Within each specialty are functions required to make the into one united body of fighting force with each individual having his own job that makes this possible. Rank.

A COMING PERMANENT SEPARATION

These are types and shadows of separations required within the Biblical Kingdom of Israel. Some are temporary and some are permanent. There is a coming, permanent separation.

In the desert during the ingathering:

Eze 20:33  As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, I will be king over you.
Eze 20:34  I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.
Eze 20:35  I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
Eze 20:36  Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” says the Lord Yahweh.
Eze 20:37  “I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.
Eze 20:38  I will purge out from among you the rebels and those who disobey me. I will bring them out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”

Remember how Moses separated Israel away from the rebels in the camp in Numbers 16:23-35. The Korah incident.

The first generation’s separation was permanent. They all died before entering the Promised Land. Perhaps some of them repented but they did not enter the Land. This second generation will have the rebels separated, too. And perhaps they will repent once they are separated. It is more likely they will not just as it is more likely the first generation’s rebels did not repent, either.

Separating The Sheep From The Goats

Mat 25:31  “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory.
Mat 25:32  Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Mat 25:33  He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34  Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
Mat 25:35  for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in.
Mat 25:36  I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.’
Mat 25:37  “Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?
Mat 25:38  When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?
Mat 25:39  When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?’
Mat 25:40  “The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
Mat 25:41  Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
Mat 25:42  for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;
Mat 25:43  I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
Mat 25:44  “Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’
Mat 25:45  “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’
Mat 25:46  These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

All of YHVH’s Law involves His people caring for others. All of His Law directs us toward others. To be separated as a sheep from the goats means to have been more concerned with others than ourselves. We cared for the hungry, thirsty, the strangers who were naked (and that is not just about food, water and clothing).

We cared enough to feed people with YHVH’s Word and to share the living water with them so they can be clothed with the garments of righteousness.

We care for the imprisoned, both literally and figuratively, caring for the other exiles who are in the same captivity as you.

We separate ourselves from others in the doing of YHVH’s service. His service is caring for others first, for their physical and spiritual needs, and any offices we might hold in His Kingdom. Needs first, office second. That is Yeshua’s example.

Ultimately, we decide our own fate by allowing YHVH to separate us from the world through His Law and by the due care we give to others around us. Take care of those around you, in your immediate area. Don’t give money to charities where you don’t know where the money is going. Take your first tithe and provide for others’ needs. Take your second tithe and get to Jerusalem for Passover.

Remember, those who do not attend either the first or second Passover in the place of His name get cut off from Israel.

It amazes me how many people want to come for Sukkot but it is Passover that all Israelites must attend first. This is the one that gets you cut off from Israel for not attending.

YHVH is choosing a people by separating them according to His will and purposes for work within His Kingdom (for we all have jobs to do), and according to what they do with His Law:

Isa 56:1  Yahweh says, “Maintain justice, and do what is right; for my salvation is near, and my righteousness will soon be revealed.
Isa 56:2  Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast; who keeps the Sabbath without profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
Isa 56:3  Let no foreigner, who has joined himself to Yahweh, speak, saying, “Yahweh will surely separate me from his people.” Do not let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”
Isa 56:4  For Yahweh says, “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and hold fast to my covenant:
Isa 56:5  I will give them in my house and within my walls a memorial and a name better than of sons and of daughters. I will give them an everlasting name, that will not be cut off.
Isa 56:6  Also the foreigners who join themselves to Yahweh, to serve him, and to love Yahweh’s name, to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath from profaning it, and holds fast my covenant;
Isa 56:7  I will bring these to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”
Isa 56:8  The Lord Yahweh, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, “I will yet gather others to him, in addition to his own who are gathered.”

THE VALUE OF INCLUSION

Our God and King, YHVH, separates in order to include. He has devised many ways in which He can surround Himself with His people now – the Sabbaths, the Feasts, and, in the future, this will result in Him surrounding Himself who those are qualified to be near His holiness in His Kingdom.

Separation of some will result in inclusion in the Kingdom for others.

Be Blessed!
