When I have been afraid and asked the Father what to do, He always has led me to the Psalms of praise, especially Psalms 135 and 136.
I did a teaching on the “be-attitudes” of Joseph recently in which I pointed out that YHVH’s people must choose to defy this world especially now in the face of the coming persecution. https://themessianicmessage.com/josephs-be-attitudes-how-to-overcome-in-tribulation. Joseph could not have survived his ordeal if he had not been a praiser. David praised YHVH in the midst of his troubles. Paul and Silas resorted to praise in their situation.
Acts 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Peter simply slept:
Acts 12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
Praising in the face of difficulties and the threat of death is a choice, a brave choice, that is only available to YHVH’s people. Those who don’t know YHVH do not have the choice to praise Him and receive the benefits that come from doing that. What are the benefits of this? Strength under fire (courage), peace within, the resolve to continue no matter what and the certainty of knowing to whom we belong and who is in control. It is not us who is in control, but YHVH!
Praise, sing, thank YHVH (Psalms 136) for He is good and His mercy endures forever and get good sleep! Laying awake worrying won’t change anything.
Matthew 6:25 Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
Matthew 6:26 See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?
Matthew 6:27 “Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?
Matthew 6:28 Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,
Matthew 6:29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.
Anxieties sometimes come from fear of dying. Remember YHVH’s many benefits for us.
Psalms 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…
And praise and thank Him for all His benefits to us.
