Why Did Yeshua’s Death Establish The Law Of Moses?

FULL MEETING WITH MIDRASH HERE

NOTE: THE TRANSCRIPT IS NOT EXACTLY LIKE THE RECORDING.

When I sent out the email on Friday that I was taking a break from teaching this week, I didn’t know YHVH would complete a teaching I had already started which I thought I would only be uploading to YouTube. After that email went out, the teaching began to fill in until suddenly it all came into focus.

Those in this online room don’t necessarily need this teaching. Rather it is for those who do. And possibly there could be some perspectives and ways of explaining that might help you who are here in this room to explain to others who object to us keeping YHVH’s Law.

Here is the teaching.

Contrary to Christian tradition that says Jesus’ death on the Cross did away with the Law of YHVH, the actual opposite is true. Rather than doing away with the Law, His death and resurrection established – nay, reestablished the Law of YHVH for believers.

The Law of YHVH which He gave at Mount Sinai was designed to make Israel a Kingdom of Priests.

Exodus 19:5  Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;
Exodus 19:6  and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

The entire nation, every individual, were supposed to YHVH’s Priests. But there was a condition to it: the word “if”. If they would obey Him and keep the covenant which was comprised of His Laws, He would establish Israel as a Kingdom of Priests. If they would not do that, if they rebelled, disobeyed, became abominable people, then YHVH would come in human form to 1) bring to Himself people who would obey His Law that 2) He established on the cross (Read Genesis chapter 15 for this promise).

Yeshua had been slain from the foundation of the world for the purpose of establishing His Kingdom on the earth. Man had allowed Satan’s Kingdom to rule and reign but the earth, nor any other place in creation (even among the stars far away from the earth), was made for Satan’s wickedness to be established. Thus the need for the cultivation of righteous, law-abiding humans (led by their Messiah, Yeshua) to counter and eventually to conquer Satan’s wickedness on earth. The Law of YHVH is good, righteous and holy, according to Paul (Romans 7:12). And it is YHVH’s Law that is the framework for His Kingdom both in Heaven and on earth. The same Law He gave at Mount Sinai is also the one that governs in His Heavenly Kingdom.

Yeshua said in Matthew 5:17:

Matthew 5:17  “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Only Christian doctrine teaches that something fulfilled means something disposed of. The rest of the world, especially in courts of law, understand that to fulfill something is actually to complete it. In fact, the Greek word for “fulfill”, ‘pleroo’ (Strong’s G4137), means “to complete”. Something completed is something, then, that has finally become established.

Example: A real estate sale contract for the house you buy is fulfilled, completed, only once the deed is given to you. The sale contract must never become irrelevant, pass away or be useless because it is the foundation of your ownership of the house you bought. The deed is the evidence of the completeness of the sale, the transfer of ownership from the seller to you. And you better hope that the foundational sale contract never goes away!

Israel received a covenant, a “sale contract” as it were, at Mount Sinai. Yeshua is our deed, as it were, to the Kingdom of YHVH. He completed the covenant, the sale.

Here’s another example. A house begins with a foundation and then walls are added and then a roof. The foundation does not become irrelevant or go away once the roof is added otherwise the entire structure comes falling down. Yeshua is the roof; He is the goal, the completion or fulfillment of the house YHVH is building. But not just Yeshua – us who are like Him! We become living stones in His House, His Temple. We become part of the building! The foundation, the framework of the walls and the roof (Yeshua) are all there now. The walls are being filled in with us, the living stones.

YHVH’s Law of His Kingdom on earth never became completed on earth during the 1500 years of ancient Israel’s existence. Why? Because they refused to be filled with YHVH’s Holy Spirit. It wasn’t until Yeshua returned to His throne that the condition of being filled with the Holy Spirit became an additional part and parcel of being a living stone in the renewed covenant between YHVH and Israel. Ancient Israelites could not keep the condition of completing the Law of YHVH by obeying it because they refused to submit their flesh to YHVH through His Hoy Spirit, and so were unable to be established as His Kingdom of Priests.

The Book of Hebrews was trying to explain this but wicked men with no understanding inserted words in the text during the Greek to English translation.

Hebrews 8:7  For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

Notice the italicized word “covenant”. That word was inserted in the text; it does not belong there. The next verse defines what “that first” was.

Hebrews 8:8  For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

“That first” was a “them”. The only word that works here is “people”, generation. Not just any people, but those who called themselves by YHVH’s Name but who rebelled against Him nonetheless. “Them” can birds or rocks, according to context but the Book of Hebrews deals with YHVH’s people.

Hebrews 8:9  Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

YHVH regarded them to not be suitable for establishing them as a Kingdom of Priests, a royal priesthood. This is why YHVH turned His attention to establishing the next generation by completing the Mount Sinai covenant which established it as a national foundation of behavior that is different than the behaviors of Satan’s world which, by example, is Egypt from where they came.

Yeshua said He did not come to destroy the prophets, also. The creation of a “new covenant” which would be different in the way YHVH’s Law was given (not saying the Law would become obsolete) was prophesied in the prophets. These verses are quoted from Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 31:31  “Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jeremiah 31:32  not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant of mine they broke, although I was a husband to them,” says Yahweh.
Jeremiah 31:33  “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The only difference between the Mount Sinai covenant and the renewed covenant is it location. “By the hand” means they were trying to keep the Law in their flesh, thus Paul’s idiom of “walking after the flesh”. In “their inward parts” and “in their heart” established Paul idiom of “walking after the indwelling Holy Spirit”.

The covenant was “renewed” like the months were renewed. The Hebrews words ‘chadash’ and ‘chodesh’ are exactly the same root but, in English, are presented with different vowels to indicate context. The Mount Sinai covenant was not connected to the monthly moons but a term of renewal like the return of the moon each month.

Jeremiah was telling us that Israel was constantly disobedient to the Law, the framework that establishes His Kingdom on the earth, which created a need for a deeper way to get His people to obey Him (which He had struggled with for 1500 years) and that He intended to make the Law stronger in our lives by adding one additional requirement in the renewal which was not a requirement for the first generation: the submission to YHVH’s Holy Spirit in our hearts.

The argument is that the Cross established grace over Law. But people don’t understand that Law establishes grace! Grace and mercy are built-in components of YHVH’s Law. The Law points to our sins and it contains the list of sins YHVH considers to be in need of forgiveness so we can repent of them and enter His Kingdom. The religions have their own lists of sins, of which most do not correspond to YHVH’s list!

YHVH’s Law is the only Law with grace and mercy built in for the purpose of forgiveness. There is no forgiveness for crimes in ancient or in modern laws. There is only payment. Sometimes there isn’t even the justice of discovering if a crime has actually been committed before payment is exacted! Man’s laws are hideous; YHVH’s Law is good, righteous, holy, full of justice, grace and mercy and they are lovely.

People have plagiarized parts of YHVH’s Law to create their own nations and religions. They use the most common laws to be a socializing force and to keep their civilizations from destroying themselves, i.e. no murder, no theft, no adultery, but they then choose to ignore the rest of the Law that would discipline their flesh. Rather, they choose to let their flesh continue as an undisciplined beast like their father the ultimate beast – Satan!

Those who love YHVH must develop a reverence and devotion to His Law as the Psalmist had when he wrote Psalm 119. YHVH regards our devotion to His Word/Law as we being devoted to Him and loving His Kingdom. We are counting the annual Omer now and reading Psalm 119 which counts the ways the Psalmist asks YHVH to teach him the Law.

No scriptures can be found in the New Covenant that rescind the Law of YHVH. He was clear in His effort to establish His Kingdom Law as the Law which governs His Kingdom both in Heaven and on earth. If His Law was done away in part or in its entirety, then why pray that YHVH’s Law be done on earth as it is in Heaven? If YHVH was going to rescind His Law, in part or in its entirety, He would have said so quite clearly. But had He done away with any part of His Law, He would have destroyed His entire House whose foundation is the Law aka the Hebrew idiom, “the Word” (John 1:1). Interestingly, Yeshua is both the foundation and the roof of YHVH’s House.

A believer is either lawful or he is lawless. The lawless cannot inherit the Kingdom. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 lists behaviors that prevent inheriting the Kingdom. All of these behaviors are listed as sins in the Law of YHVH, thus raising the question how it is that Paul taught the “doing away” with YHVH’s Law. And James said if you break any part of the Law, you have broken it all (James 2:10).

If a believer accepts 9 of the 10 commandments from Mount Sinai, but then breaks the most commonly broken law within Christianity, the 7th day Sabbath, and he rejects the food laws, refuses the law of clean and unclean and any of the other instructions in the Law of YHVH, that believer cannot inherit the Kingdom.

Back to Jeremiah 31:33  “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says Yahweh: I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

How does this happen? What mechanism did YHVH use to write His law in our inward parts and in our hearts? The mechanism and additional requirement of His Law in the New Testament His indwelling Holy Spirit. The change made by YHVH in the New Testament wasn’t the doing away with anything He had previously place as Law in His Kingdom but the addition of the requirement to submit to being indwelt in our hearts by His very own Holy Spirit!

The covenant He made with the Israelites at Mount Sinai was devoid of His indwelling Holy Spirit in them because they backed away from Him. There were some who did not like Joshua, Caleb, Aholiab, Bezalel and the others who built the Tabernacle who were filled with His Spirit. Samuel the prophet and Kings David, Hezekiah and Josiah were filled with His Spirit. YHVH told Elijah (who also was filled with His Spirit) that there were 7,000 who had not bent the knee to Baal. The only way to resist the devil is to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Israel was supposed to be filled with His Spirit from the beginning. It wasn’t until YHVH replaced the 3,000 who led the golden calf incident and died with men at Temple Mount on Shavuot, the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:41) that we understood this concept. After 1500 years, Israelites were finally being filled with His Spirit. Paul coined the phrases “walking in the flesh” and “walking in the Spirit” because no one had this terminology until after the Cross. The disciples had not understood that Yeshua was to be resurrected even though He told them, let alone what His resurrection would mean for the renewed covenant!

But Paul knew Ezekiel’s words which said:

Ezekiel 36:26  I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:27  I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.

YHVH’s Holy Spirit is the one and only additional requirement of the renewed covenant that was not included in the Mount Sinai covenant. So, it is YHVH’s Holy Spirit that causes us to DO His Law; to be able to DO His Law, the Law of YHVH aka the Law of Moses. That means we can only keep His Law – indeed, we only have the desire to do as much as possible of the Law, if we have His Spirit.

There are 2 ways to assess Christians according to this. 1) If they aren’t and do not want to keep the Law of YHVH, they are squelching and grieving the Holy Spirit who seals them for the resurrection and entering YHVH’s Kingdom at the first resurrection. 2) If they are not and do not want to keep His Law, they do not have His Holy Spirit and, thus, are not sealed for the first resurrection.

We must be careful with this because there are people who have, outwardly, many of the attributes of the fruit of the Spirit even though they deliberately reject the Law or parts of it and some actually reject Yeshua. Both things, the keeping of the Law and the testimony of Yeshua, must be present (Revelation 12:17, Revelation 14:12). However, it is above our paygrade to announce to anyone where he or she will end up. So don’t even make any pronouncements of judgements against anyone!

Here is more of Paul contrasting human flesh with YHVH’s Spirit.

Romans 8:3  For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh;

The Law is weakened in us because of our flesh but the Law is strengthened in us because of YHVH’s Holy Spirit. The flesh, the desires, appetites and drives are stronger than YHVH’s Law. Yeshua’s life, death and resurrection condemns walking in the flesh, i.e. disobeying the Law of YHVH. Yeshua came to show how us how and then to died to show us the utmost submission to YHVH’s Law. This submission can only happen by walking in the Spirit, meaning to be obedient to YHVH’s Law, overcoming our flesh, desires, appetites and drives which cause rebellion in us.

Romans 8:4  that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

What ordinance of the Law is Paul speaking of here? The ordinances that require us to be righteous according to the Law of YHVH, according to His definition of what constitutes righteousness.

Deuteronomy 6:24  Yahweh commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are today.
Deuteronomy 6:25  It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.

We, then, become like Yeshua who completed the Law by becoming the roof on the house YHVH is building except we become stones in the walls. We don’t become the roof. Only Yeshua can be the roof.

Deuteronomy 4:8  What great nation is there, that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you today?

Deuteronomy 33:21  He provided the first part for himself, for the lawgiver’s portion reserved was reserved for him. He came with the heads of the people. He executed the righteousness of Yahweh, His ordinances with Israel.”

It all comes down to justice.

Deuteronomy 25:15  You shall have a perfect and just weight. You shall have a perfect and just measure, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.
Deuteronomy 25:16  For all who do such things, all who do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your God.

Micah 6:8  He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly [judge ourselves and others by YHVH’s Law aka the Law of Moses], to love mercy [which is built into the Law], and to walk humbly [live by YHVH’s Law aka the Law of Moses] with your God?

True justice, mercy and obedience can only be achieved through being filled with the Holy Spirit. Justice, mercy and obedience is YHVH’s will and He defined justice, mercy and obedience in His Torah, the Law of YHVH aka the Law of Moses. These do not and cannot be defined by religions. Yeshua came to show us justice in action.

If we pray to be like Yeshua in character, then we are also praying to have the ability to do justly, to give mercy and to keep all of YHVH’s Law insofar as we are able without a functioning Temple.

But wait! Yeshua is now our righteousness, correct?

Romans 10:3  For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and [Israel] seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God [the Law of YHVH].
Romans 10:4  For Christ is the fulfillment [goal] of the law for righteousness [the Law of YHVH] to everyone who believes.

Yeshua has reached His goal but have we? Have we reached His goal for us? The goal of YHVH’s Law for us is the completion of the Law in us so that we are different from those Paul speaks of in Romans 10:3 who were ignorant God’s righteousness. There is no excuse of any believer in Yeshua to now be ignorant of God’s righteousness because it was proven on the Cross!

The Greek word, ‘telos’ (Strong’s G5056) is used here. ‘Telos’ and ‘pleroo’ differ only in nuance. ‘Telos’ is the final completion while ‘pleroo’ is the process of completion. Yeshua’s life teaches us the ‘pleroo’, the process that leads to ‘telos’. In other words, what happens to those who sin. Death. But He died, not because He sinned, but because we have to because we have sinned. Yeshua died so His Holy Spirit in us can seal us against the curse of the Law which is eternal death (Deuteronomy 27:26, Galatians 3:10-14).

Romans 8:5  For those who live according to the flesh [in disobedience to the Law of YHVH aka the Law of Moses] set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit [in obedience to the Law of YHVH aka the Law of Moses], the things of the Spirit.

Meaning we have YHVH’s Kingdom’s interest uppermost in our hearts and minds. We are, like Yeshua, going about the business of our Father.

Romans 8:6  For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Romans 8:7  because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 8:8  Those who are in the flesh can’t please God.
Romans 8:9  But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.

The Law of YHVH cannot give us YHVH’s Holy Spirit but the Holy Spirit gives us, actually establishes, YHVH’s Law in our hearts. In order for us Israelites to achieve walking in the Holy Spirit, DOING YHVH’s will by keeping His Law, He had to send His Son to die for us.

The evidence of someone filled with the Holy Spirit is that they keep the Law AND have the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16  But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.

We Israelites keep the Law of YHVH as renewed Israelites, not in spite of, but because of having YHVH’s Holy Spirit in us so that we not only can, but we want to walk as Yeshua walked so that we might be like Him! This is why renewed Israelites can be established as YHVH’s royal priesthood.

Be Blessed!
